Hi there! I’m Alondra Morales, and I am thrilled to be joining The Homeschool Mom Collective contributor team! As a fellow homeschooling mom, I know the power of community and the importance of sharing our journey through motherhood and faith.
Homeschool
As a former teacher of 15 years, the thought of homeschooling never crossed my mind, at least not until 3 years ago when my husband sparked the idea of homeschooling and shortly after attended a conference. What first started out as doubt in my head taking on this new responsibility, attending the homeschool conference empowered me to leave what I had known behind. It was then that I realized how much in a bubble I had been my entire career. The freedom, flexibility, and creativeness was all available to us.
With that said, the past few years have been such a joy watching my oldest learn and thrive. To witness her accomplishments firsthand and be there to support her academically as I share with her my love for teaching has been priceless. Homeschooling has given me the opportunity to truly individualize her education and academic needs. I’m a firm believer of connection over curriculum and seeing her build an intrinsic love for learning assures me that we made the best decision for our family.
Mom
I’m a mom of two beautiful children. My oldest turns 5 next month and my youngest who keeps me on my toes will enter the infamous 2 in January. The role of motherhood has taught me the importance of being present in the moment. To slow down all while being resilient towards my dreams as they are towards a snack before dinner time. I aim to speak love into them and to break generational norms and trauma as I heal my own.
Whenever I’m not with my children I am prepping for The Creative Teaching Nest , a homeschool learning pod that I established in August. You can also find me at the gym, running or lifting weights! It is my best form of therapy and how I show up for myself physically and mentally.
Collective
Motherhood is hard, and when we add homeschooling to that mix, it is even harder. Having a community of women that collectively share the same highs and lows affirms us that we are not alone in this journey.
I am thrilled to use my background in education and use this platform to equip, empower and encourage other women in this role of educating their children. I look forward to learning from other moms who like myself are learning to navigate homeschool life.
